  1. 1. I think the tests have been reasonably challenging. The word problems made them challenging and some complicated equations. But most of all it was okay.

    2. I think Mr. Jobe adequately prepared me because during class time, he has explained all the properties by showing us videos. Also, he explains the way to solve questions very easily.

    3. My least favorite part about math class was homework and my favorite part was filming the videos about the properties with a friend.

    4. I think it would be for a fun class if we had more group work assignment. For example, making a video like we did in the past.

    1. I don't find the tests reasonably challenging. However, I will have to make the amount of mistakes less and less. And to do that, the only way to do it is to solve more and more complicated problems such as word problems (in my opinion). So I would recommend to put more word problems to make them more challenging.

    2. Yes, I do feel that Mr. Jobe is adequately preparing us for the tests. The reason is because he goes everything we've leant, and reviews problems that students are having problems with. He explains things in a humorous way to make it memorize easier, he gives not much or too little homeworks. And he even does a review game for us which is very enjoyable.

    3. The favorite part of the class is as I mentioned before, its review game time. If you just go over keynotes and homeworks, students will get bored and won't listen and try to sleep. However, if you do a review game, everyone would be able to enjoy the game, which won't be boring. And I don't think there is a part of the class that is boring except when we are taking tests or quizzes.

    4. One suggestion I would recommend is to give more review games. Like I said before, nobody wants to learn anything in a boring way. To fix that, we can have more review game time so that we would be able to review while be are having a lot of fun!

  4. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?

Some have been a little challenging some have not but none of them were super easy or super hard. The questions I get wrong easily are the ones where you have to fully read the directions. Maybe questions with a little bit more of a twist might spice up the tests. For example, instead of just saying pairs of socks, you could use each sock so we have to divide by two. Something with a “little bit of paying attention to the directions” questions would be a bit more challenging.

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.

Of course! Mr. Jobe always prepares us thoroughly and doesn’t leave any sort of revision out. He always tells us how the formatting is going to be like and how hard the test should be. He notifies us about 1-2 weeks prior to the test so we have plenty of time to prepare and study. He never pushes us too much and never rushes.

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?

The favorite part of math class were the projects. I enjoy doing projects a lot and I hope we have more in the future. My least favorite part of the class would be when we....hmm..what if I say there is no least favorite part of this class!

    4. What suggestions do you have to improve this class?

Hmm...Could there be anything to suggest? Maybe when we have projects, we have the choice to do it by groups or by yourself because in some cases you don’t feel like doing it with somebody else. While in other times you want to have some fun with your group and do it together.

  5. 1. The tests have been very challenging and I had quite a hard time solving the problems. It was challenging because there was a variety of problems that had to be solved in different ways.

    2. I feel like Mr. Jobe prepared me well for this test. All the problems were problems that we had practiced during classtime, and we mostly know how to solve them.

    3. My favourite part of math class until now was making the math properties video. After we filmed, I had lots of fun editing and adding cool things to it. My least favourite part of math class was having competitions of solving math problems quickly. I am very bad at solving math problems fast, and I keep on letting my team down.

    4. I do not really have that many suggestions to improve this class.

  6. 1. No, honestly I don’t think that the test was that hard because we all prepared for it, and instead of long questions I think it is better to have questions with big numbers which would be a little bit harder. But I admit that the questions on the test are easy to make mistakes on.

    2. Yes, Mr. Jobe did prepare us enough for the test by making us practice the forms of questions on the test and we were given an adequate amount of time to prepare ourselves as well. He also showed us many ways to solve a problem so we can find the one right for us.

    3. My favorite part of math so far was when we got to the review game, because it was a lot of fun. My least favorite part of math was when we had to do homework (kind of obvious).

    4. There could be more activities where we don’t just sit there and listen to Mr. Jobe (not that I don’t like it). Nobody wants to sit there and do nothing, it’s better to have some group work and some review games to keep everyone’s happy and smart.

  7. 1. I thought the test was easy for the most part but I had some difficulties in interpreting word problems.

    2. I thought Mr Jobe prepared us very well for the tests we took because he went over the difficult problems we had on our homework and explained our lessons very clearly.

3.My favorite part about math was finishing the test we just took and my least favorite part was homework.

    4. I think class could be improved if we had less homework and more class work time since we don't finish the class work and it becomes homework.

  8. 1. I think that some of the tests are easy and some are not. For example, there are chapters which I am comfortable with and other chapters that are challenging for me. For this chapter, I found that the test wasn't as challenging as I thought it would be. My problems with tests are mostly word problems and some very challenging problems.

    2. I believe that Mr. Jobe prepared the class. He gave out homework to review what we had learned in class and he goes over the same thing over a few times so that we understand.

    3. My least favorite part about math so far was finishing the homework and the video project. My favorite part of math til now was doing the group activities with the whole class.

    4. I our like class the way it is right now. If I was to make a suggestion, it would be to have more review games during class.

  9. I think the tests have been reasonably challenging as the questions on the test are mixture of word problems and simple equation solving problems and most of the people find word problems hard which makes the test harder and challenging. But the word problems are okay, not to difficult and not to easy.

Yes I do feel that Mr Jobe prepared us adequately for the tests as most of what Mr Jobe say to us that are important comes out on the test. Also, we go over the homework and ask students if there were any hard questions that students found difficult to solve.

My favourite part of math class so far was playing games in groups on the mini boards and watching the property videos that we made.

    4. I think we can improve our class by having more fun games in groups and nothing really more!

  10. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?
I think that the tests I took so far are great. I think they’re the perfect questions to be on a test. They’re not too hard for me. There are some questions where I am really confident with which makes the question easy for me. I think that if you put more word problems, the test will be a bit more challenging for me. I’m not really confident with word problems because I tend to not read the question thoroughly. If I don’t read it thoroughly, I always miss something in my work.

Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.
Definitely. Unlike some other teachers out there, Mr. Jobe teaches us students, in a very fun way. I think that he teaches things very simply which is a good thing. Teaching us the important and right stuff helps us more since if the teacher teaches things too thoroughly and with every single detail, I think it’s a waste of time and most of the details aren’t really even that important. I think that Mr. Jobe is one of the best math teachers out there! (Your welcome Mr. Jobe(: )

What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?
My favorite part about math class so far is the teacher. If the teacher isn’t fun, then obviously the class isn’t fun. If the teacher is fun and great, the class is fun. So Mr. Jobe is definitely my favorite part about math class so far. My least favorite part about math is
tests since, I mean, who likes tests?

What suggestions do you have to improve this class?
I think that projects that gives us extra point will help me improve. Not only will it boost my grade up, it will also teach me something.

  11. 1. I don't think that test was really hard and challenging. The reason is because luckily it had less word problems than I thought. But some of the problems were easier for me to make mistakes

2.I think Mr.Jobe prepared us very well for our test because we did the review games and we watched all those property videos.

3.My favorite part about math so far is the review game and little amount of homework

4.I think our class can improve if we make questions or projects related to math a bit more exciting.

  12. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?

Well, the tests that we took were not that hard. However, it was challenging because of the word problems. I would like to add more equation problems, and things that we have to plug in rather then word problems. I personally would like to increase the amount of equation problems and increase the amount of word problems. I think that word problems are challenging to me because I have less practice with them compared to problems like simplifying or solving.

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.
Yes, I do think that Mr. Jobe prepares us well for the test. Like Yumi said, he tells us the test date 1 or 2 weeks prior to the actual test date. Also he does review games and makes it very clear about what we are being tested on.

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?
My favorite part about math class is that I am actually enjoying what I am learning. Usually math is not my favorite subject, however I am mostly always looking forward to D block. I really enjoyed the properties project. Well, it wan't as much fun when I was making it, however I liked the videos and some of them really helped me understand what the properties were. My least favorite part of the class was the tests and the quizzes. This is because I just don't like tests and quizzes. Especially when I get a bad grade.

    4. What suggestions do you have to improve this class?
A suggestion is that when we cover harder concepts during Algebra, if we do something like the properties project, I think that it will help everyone understand the concept better.

  13. 1. Yes, I think the tests were reasonably challenging because sometimes the questions are hard to understand. The word problems were always the most difficult.

    2. Mr. Jobe did do a pretty good job preparing me for the test, because when I came across the questions, it wasn't hard at all. It was just the careless errors that I kept worrying about. I personally think Mr. Jobe did an awesome job!

    3. My favorite part of the math class was when we did the review games. The review games were so fun and I mainly liked them because we don't have to worry as much about getting the answers right or wrong.

    4. I think our class would improve if we had fun projects (like videomaking) as our assessments instead of writing out tests and quizzes all the time!

  14. I think that the tests have been reasonable. They were not easy, but they were not the hardest things in the world, but if there were more word problems then it would be a lot harder.
I think that Mr. Jobe adequately prepared me for the test because he taught us the material well and he showed us creative ways of looking at things that I have never even thought of looking at it before, for example the videos about the properties.
My least favorite part of math is the homework and tests, but the best part is when Christine and I got to make the videos together.
Some suggestions would be is maybe more review games and group activities.

  15. 1. I feel like the tests were reasonably challenging because there were well balanced amount of questions that were both hard and easy. The word problems and trick questions are sometimes a little hard for me.

    2. Mr. Jobe adequately prepared for me because we had projects to understand the concept better with homework sheets and reviews. Also, the review games were also helpful.

    3. My favorite part was different types of riddle worksheets and review games, and my least favorite part was blog posts because I don't like posting blog posts.

    4. I wish there were more review games or more amount of time spent for review games and also have some teamwork activities.

  16. 1. I feel that the tests are reasonably challenging because they contained some tricky questions. I think It would help a lot for me if I went through some of the hardest questions on the textbook. That way, I can be more prepared and ready for crazy hard problems.

    2. I feel that Mr. Jobe has prepared me for this test because there wasn't a thing I didn't understand. I especially like it when he tells little jokes between lessons because it brightens me up while learning.

    3. My favorite part were when me and my partner made a video together from a project. This helped us understand more but also enjoy some of the stuff we are learning. My least favorite part were sudden classwork that you had to solve in time, because those type of things make me panic a lot.

    4. I suggest to do more projects than tests and projects, because I get to actually enjoy and learn math at the same time instead of stressing over confusing math problems.

  17. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?

I feel like the tests weren't challenging enough. If you had already reviewed the notes before the tests, it would be easy. Instead of simple calculation problems, it would be better to have a slightly more challenging calculation problems.

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.

I feel like Mr. Jobe has adequately prepared us for the tests, because he always teaches us the chapters in a way we can understand easily. Also, he provides us with a sufficient amount of time to prepare for the tests.

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?

My favorite part about math class so far was when we played the review games. My least favorite part was when I made calculation mistakes on simple problems.

    4. What suggestions do you have to improve this class?

In my opinion, there is nothing more to improve this class. It's just the perfect class for me! :D

  18. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?

Yes, I do think the test was reasonably challenging. The first page was the problems like we did for warm ups, classwork, and for homework. When I went to the second and the third page, it was challenging for me. I had to explain my variable, show equations, and had to solve. The second bonus question was the hardest, because I had to make a equations matching to the properties given. It was challenging, but I did like the test as being challenged for me.

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.

Yes. He has been telling the class that there would be a test coming up, and he noted us about a week before the test. That helped me organize my time, and study the test when I had time. In class he went through all the things that we had to know in chapter 2, and he explained it through very well.

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?

I like the way he has a review game in middle of sections. Review games were fun, and didn’t feel like I was reviewing, or studying, but I was still learning. Filming the properties, the property project, was fun. I had fun filming with my partner, but it took some time for thinking of an correct idea that we will use to film. My least favorite part was when Mr.Jobe started asking all the partners what real life example for transitive property was, but as we went through, we got the answers right later on.

What suggestions do you have to improve this class?

Since we have a review game, and we have tests and quizzes, and sometimes we have classworks or warm-up questions, I don’t really have much to suggest to improve this class. Still I think it would be a good idea, if we only have either project or test in one chapter.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 1. I don’t find the test problems challenging so far, but with difficult sections to come I believe there is no need for more challenging problem to be added in the future. Some problems that are challenging are word problems. These kinds of problem cause me to think more deeply and I think they are challenging enough.

    2. Yes, Mr. Jobe has fully prepared me for a test or quiz. He does an excellent job of teaching the basics and the important parts of the chapter and slowly prepares me for future lessons.

    3. The best part about math class so far is having Mr. Jobe as a teacher. He is funny, diligent, and efficient and I am lucky to have him as a teacher. My least favorite part about math so far is having to learn all the properties.

    4. Some suggests I have is if we are going to improve as a class, everyone should help each other in difficult situations. For example, I might be terrible on one chapter and someone who is superb can help me. So far as a class, we have done a fairly good job of working as a class.
