One day, I bought two batches of cookies, and ate one cookie. Then I divided the cookies that I took out into three piles and gave one pile out to my neighbors. The next day, I found 18 cookies in the cookie jar on top of the fridge. So, I decided to eat the cookies left over from yesterday, leaving 5 cookies in the cookie jar. - Joy Youn Christine Ahn 8D -
The story does not fit with the equation. It is still functional but we would not write this equation from this word problem. It is confusing because when it says "gave one pile out to my neighbors" it is not part of the equation. There are no grammatical mistakes however and the story was creative. The wording of the word problem was good!
The story partly fits the equation. It is also functional, but I wouldn't write this equation because it said the "I" gave out one pile, when it should all. They do not have any grammatical mistakes. The story is creative as well. Maybe they could change the order of the sentences because "I" should start out with 18 cookies instead of getting them at the end.
The story uses too simple things which makes the reader understand well, but there were some part that were very confusing because of the part "the next day". So make the story more fluent so that readers can understand the story better, and the story would be better if they used another object instead of cookies.
One day, Joy bought two batches of cookies, and ate one cookie. Then she divided the cookies into three piles and gave two piles out to her neighbors, Christine and Kimberly. After giving out the two piles, she placed the last pile in the cookie jar. The next day, Joy found 18 cookies in the cookie jar on top of the fridge. So, she decided to eat the cookies left over from yesterday, leaving 5 cookies in the cookie jar. How many cookies are in one batch?
One day Joy bought two batches of Coscto cookies. She went home and ate one. The next day she weighed herself and she weighted 70kilograms! She was shocked so she divided the cookies into three piles and gave two piles to her neighbors, Christine and Kimberly. After giving out the two piles, she placed the last pile in the cookie jar. The next day, Joy found 18 cookies in the cookie jar on top of the fridge. She was so hungry so she decided to eat the cookies left over from yesterday, leaving 5 cookies in the cookie jar. How many cookies are in one batch?
