There are certain amount of chocolate in one box. Zoey bought 5 boxes of chocolate. Sadly in two boxes there was a piece of chocolate missing. Zoey was not happy and returned the two boxes of chocolate back to the candy store. In the result Zoey had 8 more pieces of chocolate than the number of pieces in one box.

Overall, we think that this world problem makes sense. We found out that u= the number of chocolate pieces in one box. But how Zoey ended up with 8 more pieces is not clear. "There are certain amount of chocolate in one box. Zoey bought 5 boxes of chocolate. Sadly in two boxes there was a piece of chocolate missing. Zoey was not happy and returned the two boxes of chocolate back to the candy store." Up until this part it makes sense, but you suddenly get 8 more then what you had in one box. In the end, we know how to get the answer and the equation. Maybe you guys can come up with a mre creative way for how Zoey got 8 more then the number of chocolate in 1 box? One of the many positive points is that we can solve the problem, and come up with our equation without seeing the problem.

  3. 1) Does the story fit with the equation? Is it functional? Would you actually write this equation from this word story problem?
The word problem itself is fine
    2) Does it make sense, or is it a little confusing? Discuss what is not clear, and suggest improvements.
How did Zoey suddenly get 8 more pieces of chocolate? Be more specific
    3) Are there any grammatical mistakes? How should they be corrected?
    There are no grammatical mistakes
    4) Is the story creative? How could it be made better?
It is a bit creative, but instead of plain old chocolates, do something different :)
    5) What are the positive points about the word problem?
    The name Zoey is creative

The part where there is one chocolate missing in two boxes, that part doesn't make sense. The story fits the equation but the explanation could be better. There are no grammatical errors. The story is really creative. Maybe you could give a name for the candy store. The story is very cute and fun.

    1. We think that the world problem works fine.
    2. It is slightly confusing but I think you did a fine job for a complicated equation. We agree with the previous posts from different people, and think that you should describe how Zoey got 8 more chocolates.
    3. There are no grammatical mistake.
    4. It is quite creative although we would have preferred some more action(boys point of vew)
    5. It is a real life situation. I guess....

There are certain amount of chocolate in one box. Zoey bought 5 boxes of chocolate. Sadly in two boxes there was a piece of chocolate missing. Zoey was not happy and returned the two boxes of chocolate back to the candy store. When Zoey counted out the amount of chocolates left, he found out that there are eight more pieces of chocolate than the number of chocolates per box. How many chocolates are in one box?
