Alex has $20 for shopping. He wants to buy a 4 types perfume and Alex notices that he has a coupon for the perfume. The coupons says it’s 3/4 off. Still unsure whether he should buy it or not, he goes to another perfume store to see if there is a better deal. He notices that the second store costs the same amount. Now, He wants to only use $8 and buy 2 types of perfume. How many perfume can he buy?
Grammar: •He wants to buy 4 types of perfume -> He wants to buy 4 bottles of perfume •change all perfume/s to bottles of perfume
We don't understand the part where you talk about the coupon. Also your variable changed as the problem went on. At the beginning of the question, the variable was the price of one bottle perfume. However you asked for the number of bottles of perfume that Alex bought.
This equation and the wording is quite confusing and not functional. We weren't able to write out the equation just looking at the word problem. We couldn't get the part where you guys wrote 3/4 in your problem. However, in the equation it states in as 1/4 not 3/4. Also, in the beginning we thought that 'a' is the type of perfume, but at the end you said 'a' is the number of perfume. This means you have two different variables in the question. Even though it was quite confusing, there weren't a lot of grammatical mistakes. You have to change the capital 'H' after 'Now,' to lower case 'h'. The idea was okay and to improve, we think it should be more clear.
The story is too confusing to understand what equation it is showing. Also, it isn't functional. It doesn't even make sense. 4 type of perfume: instead write 4 bottles of perfume. There were some grammatical mistakes, but they weren't so noticeable. The story is very creative (?). The positive points about the word problem is very interesting, since boys wrote about buying perfume :)
Alvin went to 2 different cd stores. Alvin has $20 to spend. Alvin went to a cd store to spend his $20, he bought a certain amount of cds for $4 dollars each. Fortunately he had a coupon for 75% off so he saved a lot of money. The next day Alvin had this glitchy feeling that he had been ripped off he went to another store. This time he just took 8 dollars, he bought the exact same amount of cds for $2 each. To his interest he paid the exact same amount. HE WAS RIPPED OFF
